Laser-cut hydrangea petals were spray painted and attached to a wire frame to create full, 3D blossoms. Photo negatives of leaves and hydrangea blossoms were cut and prepped. My home garage was converted into a darkroom for cyanotype chemical prep, and fabric panels were left to dry for next-day development in the sun. Several panels were dyed with a subtle pink and supplemental plain-blue panels were added. Small wall-based hydrangea petals were added as well. A paint wash was added to the window glass and canvas was added to the floor to add depth throughout the entirety of the window space.

The Suspended Poms from Holiday 2019 were re-used as tree decor. Half of the Merry & Bright signage was re-used to accompany the accessories concept. The A-List ribbon sign was cut from buckram fabric and painted with assistance by Sophia Emler. The sample product boards were cut from luan plywood. Wooden spoons were treated with joint compound, spackle, and caulk (mixed with pink paint.) Select spoons were accessorized with sprinkles. The faux cookie garland decorations were cut from foamcore, sprayed with orange peel texturizer, painted, then "frosted" with spackle faux frosting. A special thanks to Sophia Emler for assisting with frosting the spoons, and to Colleen Burke for installing the cookies into the garland! The puzzle bear (and bunny!) were jig-sawed out of composite board. The base was painted black to create depth between the puzzle pieces. The puzzle pieces were attached and painted/stamped. Wood veneer was added to the edges to create the look of a thick, 3D puzzle. The "Be Present" Signage and letters was sent to stores raw, and was painted, assembled, and installed in-house. Wrapping paper was hand-painted in patterns that resembled board games to accompany presents that match the Be Present Window. This concept would NOT have been possible without Sophia Emler, who painted the base coats of our puzzle bunny, painted and stamped 90% of Camper the Bear, and painted THE ENTIRETY of the Be Present sign. It was a crazy holiday season and I needed all the help I could get to pull this off. The Shirt Stories Art Wall was painted an evergreen shade, along with an additional art wall, which were both clad with painted wood, polywall, and composite board "ribbons." The dogs were constructed with a wood + chipboard base, covered in packing paper and either treated with paper mache or paper and fabric fur. Their coat colors and face details were painted with acrylic and latex paint. A wood back and front piece were added to an antique sled to create a more substantial, structured piece. The snowy trees on the art wall were painted to resemble the freestanding faux Christmas trees. A special thanks to Sophia Emler for being my window glass queen, for painting the gift envelopes, AND for ribbon-wrapping all the packages! The concept table was covered in denim fabric and upcycled jeans in a patchwork design. The Rothko-inspired art wall was partially re-painted blue to accent the denim product. Behind-the-scenes, the macrame hangings were hand dyed in an ombre-blue. Vintage ornaments were added throughout the macrame and the wall-based display as a holiday accent in the 2020 Christmas season. The macrame display was moved to accompany the new lounge/activewear concept in the spring. The Harvest Table concept was designed as an extension of the Front-Of-Store leaves display. A canvas runner was dyed with the same treatment as the FOS leaves, and the gold leaves from the previous fall season were reused to create depth within our display cabinets. The stumps were taped off and sprayed with gold spray paint for an elevated look. (RIP to the colony of carpenter ants that were flushed out of these stumps for this display.) The large-scale oak leaves were cut from ply, accentuated with a canvas layer, and painted with dye. The edges were drilled and faux-stitched with gold cord. A heart was faux-stitched into the largest leaf. The shirt-stories wall was updated with orange accents to match the leaves. |
