*** Fall 2020 Update ***
The butterflies were reduced in quantity and served as a wall-based display as a bridge between summer and fall.
This project was started before the first COVID19 shutdowns of Spring 2020. I started the construction of the butterflies in March, finished them at-home during the shutdown, and they were installed by my phenomenal managers Liz Bernhardt and Colleen Burke before the store re-opened in June.
The butterfly wings were sent pre-cut, but were painted by hand in 3 color stories, then attached to create a 3D "flight" effect.
The Colorblock Rings from last fall were re-painted for this project.
The Pollen concept combined hand-made 3D flowers with chalk-drawn flowers.
The opposing wall had multiple iterations over the season, at first featuring the deer family and later enhanced with even more flowers.
The pollen flowers were hand-dyed and painted before assembly, and they were combined with some of the Flying Poppies paper flowers from last season.
The jewelry stands received a canvas-painted, colorblock update to coordinate with the new art wall.
The back-of-store wall was looking very sad and was in dire need of an update. It was covered in canvas and trimmed out to create an art wall similar to the existing art walls in the store.
A hand-made sunglass fixture was added to the accessories wall to add a modern element and highlight the product.
In late spring, the wall was used as a backdrop to the Clare V. capsule collection of products.
A geometric accent was added to the Take Note stationary wall to serve as a compliment to the new wall.
The Cash Wrap Pendant Light display was updated with red painted accents, and a painterly heart was installed to dot the "i" in Anthropologie.
A wallpaper mural was pasted onto wood slats, and the slats were cut to irregular lengths while keeping the integrity of the mural pattern.
The front wall was covered in canvas and painted in layers, allowing the brush strokes to show through.
The large-scale flowers were created with foam core and paper petals, then painted in an abstract way that allowed brush strokes and drips to shine through. The centers of the flowers were made with painted nylon string and crepe paper.
The backdrop (and the floor) was painted using a variety of colors that were allowed to blend together and drip in an organic way. Wall-pasted flowers were adhered to the canvas and painted into the backdrop, then extended with white additave petals for a three-dimensional look. The large-scale flowers were suspended off the wall to create depth.
The fall mystic concept was converted using the fall gold leaves to create a new, organic winter scene.
