*** OCTOBER 2018 UPDATE *** The medallions were utilized as a backdrop for the Fall Fashion Show. String for the straight, large medallion was strung along chip board and dyed in batches. The small medallion string was swagged along the bottom of a wood inner-structure and spray-dyed. Once dry, the string was attached to the wood structure pieces, which was then treated with layers of paint and joint compound. The treatment was sanded for a marbleized-stone effect. The attachment brackets were covered in gold leaf and paint.

The base platform was created from a sturdy plywood structure and treated with Venetian plaster, then sanded and buffed for shine. The "cage" platform topper was constructed with 2x2s and covered with copper tape to achieve an elevated, hammered-metal effect. On either side of the platform, wood two-way fixtures hold product and accessories. They were constructed with 2x2s and copper pipe. Leading into the Denim Shop, several mannequins sit on a platform covered in recycled denim for an added accent to the room. *** NOVEMBER 2018 UPDATE *** The denim shop sign was moved to the center of the store to feel more intimate. The shape of the denim shop sign was cut out of luan board. Wood pieces were used to create structure and suspension between the front and the back. The side pieces were drilled to fit the wires and light sockets. "The Denim Shop" letters were dyed with indigo ink and set proportionally on the front face. Anthropologie sent gold and copper shapes to each of their stores to treat with the patina effect. Layers of acrylic paint, gold interference paint, and flour were added to the shapes. When dried, the flour created a matte, crackled texture to simulate natural patina. The candle shop is a bustling zone at Anthropologie, and creating different levels of height to break up the space keeps the product from looking too overwhelming. The cement risers were made by coating sonotube cylinders and plywood circles with ready-mixed concrete patch. Once dry, a layer of joint compound was added on the tops as a variegated color treatment. *** OCTOBER 2018 UPDATE *** The 52 Conversations Signage was attached to a "ballet bar" fixture to allow for more flexible movement throughout the store. "52 Conversations" is a new brand at Anthropologie. Each month, a limited-edition top will be released in four different patterns, or four "conversations." By the end of the year, 52 tops will be released. The signage was made from a 1x4 plank and painted with a washed stripe treatment. The "52" was drawn in graphite, while "conversations" was hand-painted. The platform riser was made from birch plywood. The stripe treatment starts out bold and bright, but gradually gets lighter on each side of the box. The stands were cut from 2x4's at a slight angle with a chop saw blade; the blade was centered on the board so plates will sit properly. The summer windows at Anthropologie were inspired by paper fans and Asian geometric design. My transfer to Anthropologie Naperville was in the middle of the window design process. I was provided a design sketch based on a standing pleat prototype that I used as a basis for the structure. The pleated paper and structure were created behind the scenes before installation.
